Homemade Salad Dressing

It’s so easy to make salad dressing at home, especially a vinaigrette.  It’s just oil, vinegar, and seasoning.  This recipe calls for dried herbs so the ingredients are commonly already on hand.  And, the flavor is worth the little bit of effort it takes to make this easy recipe.

If there are leftovers, seal and store in the refrigerator.  But, once it is refrigerated, the dressing gets thick.  To loosen it up, let it come to room temperature for a few minutes before serving.  Or, run warm water over the sealed container for a few seconds.

Thanks so much for the homemade version of a favorite dressing I can’t find at the store anymore. I saved the last empty bottle, though, so the label is correct – and it actually drizzles instead of pouring out like a waterfall! But the vinaigrette tastes so much better when freshly made with no preservatives or other chemicals.

This is my go-to salad dressing, it’s very good! I make it vegan by substituting agave nectar for honey and it’s just as tasty, and I always add a teaspoon of dill as well. I love to make a “Greek” salad with feta, chopped olives, tomatoes, chopped marinated artichoke hearts and this dressing. So delicious!

    1. Ya, that would be my only alteration I think. If everyone thinks it is so good with powder, it’s gotta be bomb with fresh chopped garlic!!

This dressing was a delicious, fast and easy one to make to drizzle over cucumbers for a nice summer salad. It is packed full of flavor!

I made today to try it with our lettuce we grew in our new green house. Used real garlic instead of garlic powder, and had the lettuce with tomatoes, shaved Parmesan and grilled chicken. It was awesome and now I have it saved on in my recipe cards to make it more often.

This is so good. Used on kale with some Parmesan cheese and sprinkle of pinko bread crumbs for crunch. Delicious! Thanks so much!

  7. I made your dressing recipe last evening for my grown kids who were home. They loved it, as did I. I did use lemon juice in lieu of vinegar and fresh herbs instead of dried.
That being said, the reviews were so impressive I look forward to trying your recipe as you suggest.

  8. My all-time favorite vinaigrette! Love this over romaine, avocado, feta, and cherry tomatoes—with some fresh cracked pepper and bagel seasoning!

  9. This is my ultimate favortie dressing for my salmon salad. Lightly Seasoned salmon on a bed of fresh spinach topped with sun dried tomatoes, chopped crisp bacon, sliced onion, and pepperoncinis.

I didn’t add the honey because I didn’t have any but it was still delicious without it. I made a cucumber salad with feta cheese yum!!!!

Thank you so much for this recipe! I’m allergic to eggs and have a difficult time finding dressings that do not include eggs!

I wanted to try and find a recipe that was similar to what my friend usually makes and gives me and I took a chance with this as it was simple and I had all the ingredients! IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! WOW!
The only thing I did different was I added fresh crushed garlic and needed to change out red wine vinegar with apple cider because its what I had. Thank you! 🙂 I will now make this dressing myself and enjoy on fresh salads!

  15. Hi there, Amanda! I look forward to making this but would like to know how long this will keep in the refrigerator? Thank you kindly!
